Tarot Cards are a popular example of divination called cartomancy, whereby spiritual practitioners use a deck of cards to gain insight into your life. Historians say that Tarot Cards were invented in northern Italy in the fifteenth century. Even though there is no historical evidence of the practice of divination in the Tarot until the late eighteenth century, this does not mean that the Tarot and other divinatory practices are merely contemporary inventions. In ancient times, the Tarot was actually a form of divinatory magic used to interpret the connection between the stars above and their effect on the cycles of our lives (i.e. hermetic principle: as above, so below). It was comprised of crystalline tablets in the shape of doorways or gateways. Each one was unique in character and connected to an astrological body and/or element.

Holistic practitioners would study for several years how to master the Tarot's influence on ancient medicine and astrological alchemy. They would use the tablets to interpret a person's past, present, and future by intuitively channeling stellar soul energy. Divination was not only used for predicting future probabilities, but also for identifying karmic traumas from someone's past and for healing physical ailments through spiritual guidance.
